Ireland

This is a list of some of the areas of Ireland with no Christian Church or Gospel influence.

We hope to start in New Ross which has a population of 23,099 people.

It the third largest town in the county after Wexford and Enniscorthy.  Miles planted a church in Wexford in 1985 and there is now a sister church in Enniscorthy.

Some interesting facts about New Ross:

New Ross, Co. Wexford is located on the River Barrow in the South East of Ireland and is home to a population of approx 23,000.

New Ross is the ancestral home of U.S. President John F. Kennedy and is also home to the Dunbrody Famine Ship, which led the Parade of Sail in the Tall Ships Race 2005.

—-------------------------------------------

For centuries, Gospel-based churches have  failed to penetrate Ireland. Evangelistic efforts in the 1800s were thwarted by a pervasive Catholic influence.

Bible Believers threatened Ireland's national identity, wrapped up in centuries of conflict with nearby England.

The Irish Constitution in 1937 recognized the "special position" of the Roman Catholic Church. Influential Irish bishops regarded evangelicals as cultic.  This has now been changed but the Roman churches' influence is still very prevalent in all areas of Social Life.

This country is in dire need of the truth.  Will you stand with us as we endeavor to go there and preach Christ and Him crucified?  It is going to take backing as our moving costs are great and settling in costs too but we trust God has shown us this direction and that He will provide the means to do so.

A recent survey showed only 5 per cent, or one in 20, of 15 to 24-year-olds could quote the first of the 10 Commandments when interviewed for a new survey in Ireland.

Almost one-third (32 per cent) could not say where Jesus was born and more than one-third (35 per cent) did not know what is celebrated at Easter.

The same survey found that only 52 per cent of young people could name Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as the authors of the gospels, while only 38 per cent knew that there were four gospels.

Fewer than half of the 15 to 24-year-olds surveyed (47 per cent) could name "Father, Son and Holy Spirit/Ghost" as the three persons of the Trinity, while only 48 per cent were able to name Genesis as the first book of the Bible.

This is incredible but if they don’t know these things how could they know about Christ and what he accomplished for us at the cross?  How he lived a sinless life and died a hideous death and rose again for us so that we could have everlasting life.  That our sins are forgiven and cast behind His back for all eternity.

This beautiful  country is in dire straits.

Update! After a lot of prayer and soul searching, back in 2010, we felt the Lord called us to return to Ireland and begin church planting in an area of Ireland that has not been evangelized. That is New Ross, Co. Wexford and its surrounding areas.

In 1985 Miles planted a church in Wexford (see map) and it is still flourishing along with 2 other churches which came out of this Wexford church which are in Gorey and Enniscorthy.  The need for the gospel is great in Ireland.

Since our arrival here we have held

We will continue to base ourselves in Ireland but the Lord is opening doors for us to teach pastors via conferences in India and  Africa.  The first conference will ne held in Nov 2014.

We are praying  for people tol stand alongside us both prayerfully and financially.
